Dartmoor Mountain Bike Trails
Dartmoor is a hugely popular hub for mountain biking and recently played host to the world’s best cyclists in the Tour of Britain. Its wild and dramatic scenery has inspired many tourists to venture to the south coast with their bikes in tow.
Dartmoor has something for everyone – it is the complete cycling experience. On any given day its moors will welcome experienced riders searching for a route that will test them to their physical limits as well as a family on a day cycling outing. Our trail grading system breaks down Dartmoor’s routes into various difficulty categories, meaning you can find the perfect route for your level.
Red or Black Trails
We would recommend either Red or Black graded trails for the more experienced riders in Dartmoor. Visit the Trail Grading Explained page to learn what trail grading is. Black grade trails are harder than red but red trails are still suitable for the mountain biking enthusiast, requiring a high level of skill, ability and concentration.
Be Careful
Landscape Rides in Dartmoor delve far into the countryside so riders should be advised that trail conditions may deteriorate during the Winter. Landscape Rides tend to vary depending on weather conditions as many are un-surfaced. The tricker terrains will tend to suit experienced riders but are not inhospitable to outdoor enthusiasts who are looking to explore on two wheels rather than on foot. Remember that the grading system refers to the technical challenge of the trail, not how long it is.
