Mendip Hills

Enjoy a good mix of blue (moderate) and red (difficult) graded trails in a land of many layers. This limestone plateau rising above the Somerset Levels contains a wealth of dramatic gorges, ancient woodland and distinctive peaks. Find modern agriculture on medieval field systems, on top of Roman towns, hiding ancient cave systems, where early man sheltered.

Bike shops can be found in Cheddar, Norton Radstock, Shepton Mallet, Weston-Super-Mare and Frome.

How to get there:

There is a train station in Weston-Super-Mare. The AONB is also easily accessible from the  M5, A37 and A38.

Find out more on the Mendip Hills AONB website.
